Early to Rise

I’ve been told I’m hard to wake up next to

A storm wrapped in sheets,

bursting from dreams

like a prizefighter,

punching the air with joy.

No snooze button, no pause

just bass booming from my speaker,

the same seven hype tracks,

my morning ritual of war drums

Shouting for the day to rise with me.

I don’t do slow.

I greet the sun

With a race

Of who can put our feet on the ground first

They say it’s hard

to find stillness in my presence.

Good.

Stillness is for yesterday.

Dance with me instead.

Let’s wake the world up.
