Your fur spikes
With fury
Like soldiers rising to meet the call of war
Your muzzle quivers with hope,
flickering in the stillness,
That they might take one step too far
Your teeth show
Like blades drawn by a careful chef,
Honed for the moment
Your growl is the last act of kindness
That says "turn back,
Danger lives here"
Then your feet rip through the grass
Cleaner than a mowers blades
Your growl now roars
Not asking
But commanding
"Run or else"
Everyone sees a monster
Wild, broken, and dangerous
But I know what you are
You’re a blade drawn
Only for one cause
To protect me
So when the other dog’s ownerssay
“A dog is just a reflection of their owner”
I say…
Thank you
