Festival of Manliness Pt.2: Day 100

Today is Day 100 of 100.  The work is officially done, the results are in, and tomorrow morning I’ll board my flight, go meet Daniel in Houston, then set off on this journey.

Last year, I hit my highest weight of 179 lbs. By cleaning up my diet, cutting back on alcohol, and getting back into the gym, I dropped down to 165.5 lbs before starting this 100 day plan.

I knew I needed to do more. I planned a rigorous training plan to compete in Mongolia’s Festival of Manliness that would focus on a complete body recomposition: fat loss, muscle gain.

Here is exactly what the data looks like from Day 0 to Day 100:

The Real Story Behind the Numbers This is the first time I’ve actually looked at these numbers. I’ve looked at the week over week but looking holistically, I’m incredibly proud of this journey. Dropping almost 18lbs of pure fat while gaining muscle is exactly what I needed. I literally shaved off a full decade off my body’s biological age. Every health metric for my body is in the “optimal” zone.   The before and after photo is below. Honestly, it doesn't look radically different, but that speaks directly to how normalized obesity has become. I officially crossed into the "obese" category, and no one... including myself... even noticed. People were shocked by how much weight I lost because I was still viewed as a smaller guy, but internal health markers don't care about perception.

By stripping away that fat and cutting a decade off my body's biological age, I’ve drastically lowered my risk for heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. That internal transformation is exactly what this journey is about.

Now, off to compete!
